Another night, another gala. After a little over eight months of attending benefits in the place of her parents, Molly was really getting the hang of it. She had grown used to the long, cumbersome gowns and she no longer stumbled in the incredibly high heels-- she glided everywhere she walked. She knew the perfect smile, the perfect laugh, the perfect handshake, and most of it was sincere. Most of it. Some nights, she just didnāt feel like playing the part, even if she had to. Wilma constantly insisted that she didnāt have to attend anything, her parentās representatives could handle it, but Molly didnāt bite. It was her responsibility.
But tonight, she needed to take a second to breathe. She excused herself and slipped out to the courtyard, taking a deep breath of the cool spring air. She took a moment to take off her heels, walking barefoot among the plants and masonry.
She saw the handsome young boy her age and paused, almost wanting to go back so she wouldnāt disturb him. But something in his expression looked...painful. And so, she decided to take a shot in the dark and talk to him. What better topic than the stars?
āNo need to apologize-- I was more worried about bothering you,ā she replied with a smile. She looked up to the sky, brushing a strand of hair away from her eyes.Ā āHm... Well, Iām not really all too familiar with the subject... I think Ursa Major. Itās nice to think that thereās a giant bear in our sky,ā she said with a giggle, looking over at him.Ā āDo you have a favorite?ā
